How to get eBay comps for pallets before you buy

Get eBay sold comps for products in a liquidation pallet manifest, review UPC and condition matches, and estimate resale value after fees and freight.

Research the products inside the pallet

To get eBay comps for a pallet, start with its itemized manifest. Look for recent comparable sales of the individual products, match their condition and included accessories, then multiply each reviewed unit value by the number of sellable units. Subtract your acquisition and selling costs before deciding what to bid.

Searching for the entire pallet usually answers a different question: what another mixed lot is offered or sold for. That lot may contain different products, quantities and conditions. If you plan to sell items individually, research those individual items rather than treating another pallet’s advertised price as your resale value.

1. Start with UPCs and exact models

Use a spreadsheet containing product titles, quantities and UPCs where available. Preserve leading zeros in identifiers. When the description is shortened, use the exact model to distinguish a full product from a replacement part or accessory. Check whether the quantity means individual items, retail packs or cases.

In PalletMargin, sign in, upload the manifest and choose Sell on eBay. Set the expected selling condition for rows where the file does not supply one. UPCs help establish product identity, but they do not establish whether the item is working, complete or in the condition claimed by a comparison.

2. Review the sold comparisons returned

Run the analysis and open the fetched listings in Product results. Check the product variant, condition, bundle contents and evidence date. A comparable sale for a console plus several games should not price a bare console as if the games were included. An active asking price is not evidence that a buyer paid that amount.

For bulk eBay comps from a spreadsheet, keep each research result tied to its source product. Do not copy the first search result into every row or assume that similar titles mean identical products. PalletMargin keeps product-level evidence visible so you can review a match before using the result.

3. Calculate the matched pallet value

Consider a hypothetical manifest with four units researched at $50 each and three at $20 each. The matched gross resale estimate is $260: four times $50 plus three times $20. If two additional units have no reliable market data, leave their value unresolved instead of assigning them the average of the matched products.

If the whole pallet costs $180 delivered, the $80 difference is before selling fees, outbound shipping, returns and other expenses. Do not count the matched total as profit or subtract only the acquisition cost of matched items. You still paid for the entire pallet.

When the comps are sparse or do not match

Check the original identifier and model first. Then inspect variant, pack size and condition differences. If the source description is insufficient, ask the supplier for better product information. A blank valuation is more useful than a confident value attached to the wrong item.

Prioritize unresolved products that could change your buying decision. One expensive item can matter more than ten inexpensive accessories. Keep any manually researched assumptions separate from fetched evidence, and test a lower-price scenario before committing to a bid.

Use the research to prepare your listings

After buying and inspecting the inventory, review listing titles, prices, quantities and category IDs. Approved products can be exported through PalletMargin’s separately purchased eBay draft CSV package. Finish photos, condition, item specifics and shipping choices in Seller Hub before publishing.

Sold comps support a pricing decision; they do not guarantee a future sale, a sale date or a profit. Use your actual inventory condition and costs when deciding whether the researched opportunity is worth pursuing.
