Unknown value is not a confirmed zero
No Market Data means the analysis did not establish a usable value for that row. The item could still be sellable. Conversely, a familiar title does not justify inserting an optimistic number just to complete the total.
Keep researched values separate from manual assumptions. Write down what remains unknown: product identity, variant, condition, comparable price or quantity. The next useful action depends on which uncertainty you have.
Measure coverage by units and importance
Imagine ten rows containing forty units. Eight matched rows might cover only twelve units, leaving most of the physical inventory unresolved. Alternatively, one unmatched row could contain the single most valuable item.
Review matched products and matched units together. Neither tells you value coverage when missing products lack verified prices. Do not claim that 80% of rows matched means 80% of the pallet’s value is known.
Keep full acquisition cost in the decision
Suppose matched gross resale value is $600 and the entire pallet costs $450 delivered. The apparent $150 difference is before selling costs and other expenses. Unmatched stock does not make part of the $450 disappear.
Run a conservative scenario with no proceeds assigned to unresolved rows, then a separate clearly labeled scenario using your justified manual estimates. If the deal only works under an aggressive assumption about missing goods, investigate those goods before bidding.
Resolve the most consequential rows first
Check source identifiers against packaging or supplier information, then look for the exact model and condition. Request clearer descriptions or photographs where needed. Spend review time on rows that could change the buying decision rather than automatically researching every low-value item equally.
PalletMargin leaves unresolved rows visible for review. A manual approved export price can help you prepare inventory after inspection, but it should remain distinguishable from a market-derived valuation when you assess the original buying decision.
