A manifest retail total is not your resale value
Start with what the pallet actually contains, then estimate what those products could sell for in your chosen channel. A supplier’s retail total may describe original retail prices rather than current demand or the condition of customer returns.
Choose eBay sold comparisons for an eBay resale estimate, or Amazon references with your own percentage for store shelf pricing. Those are different measurements. Do not add them together or treat an Amazon asking price as evidence of an eBay sale.
Count physical units and verify identity
A ten-row manifest can contain thirty or three hundred units. Multiply each product’s unit estimate by its quantity. Check whether a row means one unit, a multipack or a case before doing that multiplication.
Prioritize exact UPCs and model numbers over shortened titles. Then inspect condition and included accessories. A console without controllers or a charger is not directly comparable to a complete bundle, even when the base model matches.
Build a value range instead of one optimistic number
Consider a hypothetical pallet with ten units estimated at $40 and five at $20. The matched gross resale estimate is $500. If three other units are unmatched, leave their value unresolved instead of dividing $500 across all eighteen and assuming every item has evidence.
Stress-test the matched estimate. A 20% reduction would turn $500 into $400 before fees and shipping. Also consider units that cannot be sold at all. These scenarios are assumptions for your decision, not forecasts supplied by the market data.
Subtract the full cost of getting inventory ready
Landed cost includes the purchase price, freight and buyer fees or other acquisition charges. Then account for selling costs, outbound shipping and any repair, testing or cleaning work. An attractive gross resale total can disappear once these costs are included.
Upload the manifest to PalletMargin, select the sales channel, enter known purchase costs and inspect the result coverage. Review the actual comparisons before bidding. If most of the value rests on one expensive product, verify that product especially carefully.
Decide what you can afford to get wrong
Set your bid ceiling using a conservative scenario and the profit you require. Keep a separate allowance for returns, damage and unsold stock. When the manifest lacks sufficient identifiers or condition details, ask the supplier for clarification before assigning those goods a confident value.
After buying, reconcile the received inventory with the manifest. Approved products can then become eBay draft exports or store price tags, connecting the buying decision to the work of getting inventory ready to sell.
Check current eBay requirements
Use eBay’s Seller Hub Reports instructions for its upload workflow and the current eBay selling-fee information for your account. Requirements and charges can change.
