Identify the sellable unit
Before multiplying quantity by price, decide what one unit in the row represents. A manifest may describe an individual item, a retail multipack or a shipping case. A title and a quantity column alone may not settle the question.
Ask the supplier for clarification when pack size is unclear. Keep the original file and record your interpretation separately so someone receiving the pallet can check it against the physical goods.
Work through the multiplication once
Suppose a row says quantity four, with six individually sellable items per case. If quantity means cases, there are twenty-four individual items. If it already means individual items, multiplying by six again creates an inflated inventory count.
Now suppose the researched $18 price is for a sealed six-pack. Twenty-four individual items are not automatically worth twenty-four times $18. Either compare four six-packs or find a defensible individual-item price, depending on how you can actually sell them.
Check costs and exports on the same basis
A $120 acquisition cost spread across twenty-four items is $5 per item. Spread across four sellable packs, it is $30 per pack. Both describe the same cost, but mixing those bases gives a misleading margin.
Your listing quantity and label count must use the same chosen unit. A draft for quantity twenty-four six-packs would oversell a pallet that only contains four. Inspect the product title alongside the numeric quantity.
Normalize the file before analysis
Use one clear unit basis per row and retain pack information in the title. Split rows when items have different conditions or are sold in different bundles. Check the uploaded preview before launching research.
In PalletMargin, compare rows, physical units and unique products. These counts answer different questions. A low row count does not mean a small pallet, and repeating an identical identifier does not automatically prove the rows are accidental duplicates.
